Slow Carb Menu - What Should I Eat?

A inquire I get asked a lot is: What does your Slow Carb Menu look like?

When I say Menu Im talking about what are the meals I eat on a daily basis. I think in normal as people, we love to have a look inside someones life as to what they are doing and how it can help others going forward.

Menu Salads

So I wanted to put together my Slow Carb Diet Menu to give you some thoughts as to what you can eat. This is based a bit on the Tim Ferris - 4 Hour Body plan but I am also a bit more liberal with stuff like Bacon and am not as regimented with dairy food. (Organic Sour Cream & Organic Cheese).

Slow Carb Breakfast

For breakfast I like to keep this the simplest meal of the day. The less plan the better. I ordinarily wake up and drink a good sized bottle of iced water. This shocks the metabolism in to starting to move, quench's thirst and wakes you up.

I then corollary it up by a 80 - 90% Protein meal. This is the meal that is most leading when it comes to protein. I ordinarily end up having 2 Eggs, Bacon with some Pepper & Fresh Chives mixed in the eggs. I am trying to bring myself to eating spinach at 9am but it can be a struggle.

Slow Carb Lunch

For lunch I like to mix it up and assuredly can depend on where I am or what I am feeling like. It ordinarily steps nearby a quick Salad, the slow cooker or eating out. But here are a few of the regulars on my menu:

Refried Beans, Steak & Vegetables Salad with Moroccan Chicken Turkish Kebab with Large Salad and a exiguous hummus Spiced Mince & Beans wrapped in Lettuce Leaves Slow Cooker Beef Brisket, Bacon & Chicken or Spicy Beef (as I call it)

Slow Carb Dinner

Although not a lot dissimilar from the above meals I am a true fan of Mexican food and Bbq. One huge benefit on this diet is Bbq & Mexican are the 2 easiest foods to eat. So Steak & Beans is on the menu a bit. Here are some of my top Slow Carb evening meal Choices.

Bbq Steak (Char Grilled) with a organery Egg Salad Black Beans, Diced Steak and Cayenne Pepper with some Grilled Peppers and Zucchini Stir fry with Beef/Chicken, broccoli & Zucchini strips If I'm out anything that fits under the rules at a Mexican restaurant. I even had McDonalds the other day by taking off the buns of some burgers lol. Not ideal, but you have to work with what you can find sometimes.

Slow Carb Snacks Snacks

Here are just snacks I have when I get hungry. I do need to note that on this diet you do not assuredly get peckish as such. If I am getting hungry I will ordinarily add a 4 smaller Lunch/Dinner meal.

Almonds & Brazil Nuts (but not too many) Jerky style organic beef Celery sticks Just Drinking lots and lots of lemon water

Oktoberfest Party Menu Ideas for a Fun-Filled Oktoberfest Party

Oktoberfest Party Menu Ideas for a Fun-Filled Oktoberfest Party

Oktoberfest, while it insinuates an October celebration, is categorically noted in September. Food, beer, fun, beer, music and beer are the highlights. Here are some food ideas to get your party started:

You will find the German tradition offers many good items on the menu from all kinds of beer to bratwurst and many other types of sausage. If you are concerned in recipes for Oktoberfest then you will want to understand the full menu you might find at an Oktoberfest party. Here are a few ideas:

Menu Salads

You may find homemade pretzels, canapés, Lowenbrau bratwurst, Rye bread Crostini, German potato salad, red cabbage with Bavarian smoked cheese, braised pork with a horseradish sauce, dark beer marinated chicken, and strudel. And that's just the tip of the iceberg! Food plays as much of a role in Oktoberfest as beer, and as such, sharing appetizing food with your guests is a must.

Spaetzeles are other primary menu item for Oktoberfest. Spatzen are tiny dumplings. You will need 4 eggs, ½ egg shell of water for each egg used, flour to make a thick batter, and a pinch of salt. You will join the water and eggs together then add the flour gradually. You will need to rest the batter between whisking some times. The idea is to make a thick batter that you can push through a Spaetzel maker into boiling water. When the Spaetzel begins to float you will lift them out of the boiling water and cover with a buttered crumb topping. You can have Spaetzel as a side dish with Sauerbraten.

Sauerbraten is other primary German recipe you will find during Oktoberfest depending on where you are. Sauerbraten combines a roast with vegetables, cider vinegar, brown sugar, and sour cream for a phenomenal dish. The flavor may seem a petite sour, but you will get used to it especially if combined with Spaetzel.

Whatever you serve at your Oktoberfest function, though, sharing it with friends and having a great time together is the most leading thing of all.

Easy and Fast Chicken Noodle Soup method

Easy and Fast Chicken Noodle Soup method

Here is a very easy and quick chicken noodle soup method for those who are time poor but still want something that tastes good. It should take you around 10-15 mins to get ready and will serve roughly 5-7 population depending how much you each want.

Personally I prefer richer cooked from scratch chicken noodle soup recipes to this one, but this method as I said is a quick, hence we have to use precooked chicken and packaged or pre made chicken stock, still it tastes good though.

Chicken Salad

Ingredients:

2- 2/1/2 Cups of cooked chicken pieces.

1350ml (45 fl oz) of chicken stock ( broth)

2 Medium sized celery stalks

3 medium carrots

1 medium to large onion

Noodles - preferably choose a short smallish egg noodle shape adequate to serve around 5-7 cups of soup

pinch of salt

pinch of pepper

Instructions:

You'll need precooked chicken to make this method fast, but you could cook your own from scratch, and for this chicken noodle soup method it literally doesn't matter how the chicken was cooked. You can sliced up your chicken into dinky bite sized pieces or pull it apart roughly if you prefer. Its all the time nice to use chicken breast when you are making chicken noodle soup, but again it's up to you.

Chop up your celery carrots and onions into small pieces.

In a large saucepan add your chicken stock ( broth) a pinch of salt and pepper as well your chopped up vegetables and your chicken pieces. Bring this up to a boil on a high heat then sacrifice the heat down to a medium climatic characteristic and cook it until the vegetables are done properly. It should take around 15 minutes.

While you are cooking this you should cook your noodles in a separate pot of boiling water. I find it best to not fully cook the noodles in the boiling water, instead before they are fully cooked, drain them and add them into the chicken soup and allow them to cook fully straight through with the rest of the ingredients. This will insure the noodles absorb some of the chicken stock for better flavor.
When all things is done after the 15 minutes or so, taste it to see if it needs more salt or pepper, then its ready to serve.

Chicken Pepperoni - Aurora's formula

Chicken Pepperoni - Aurora's formula

Aurora's recipe

Remember the movie Seems Like Old Times with Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn? The Governor is invited over for his popular dinner, chicken pepperoni, made by the maid, Aurora. But Aurora has to have her feet scrapped and cannot be there to cook the meal. That's when the fun starts. After I saw the movie, I had to try the dish and over the years I have hopefully improved on the former method I found. See what you think of my chicken pepperoni.

Chicken Salad

Ingredients (6 servings):

3 tablespoons - extra virgin olive oil 1 - large onion, chopped 2 cloves - garlic, minced 1 28-ounce can - diced tomatoes (I like Hunt's brand) 1 6-ounce can - tomato paste (Hunt's brand preferably) 8 ounces - button mushrooms, sliced 2 tablespoons - fresh basil, chopped 9 ounce - pepperoni stick (remove cover around the pepperoni if it has one) cut into 1/4-inch slices and then quarter the slices 1/3 cup - all purpose flour 1 tablespoon - fresh oregano 1 teaspoon - salt 1 teaspoon - pepper 2 pounds - skinless boneless chicken breasts cut into 1/2-inch cubes 2 tablespoons - extra virgin olive oil 1/3 cup - white wine (e.g., chardonnay) 1 pound - pasta (I prefer rotini noodles for this dish)

Preparation:

Heat the 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for one minute. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, mushrooms, and basil and simmer over low heat for about 5 to 10 minutes (mix well). Set aside.

Meanwhile, place the pepperoni in someone else smaller frying pan and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes to cook the fat off. With a slotted spoon, remove the pepperoni and add it to the sauce. Discard the oil.

Add the flour to a small bowl along with the oregano, salt, and pepper and mix. Add the chicken to the flour aggregate to coat. Add any remaining flour aggregate directly to the sauce.

Heat the 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large Dutch oven over high heat and brown the chicken, about 15 minutes. Add the white wine to the chicken and cook off the alcohol, about 2 minutes. Add the tomato sauce and pepperoni to the chicken and wine, cover and simmer on medium-low heat for 15 minutes. Stir periodically

Meanwhile, cook the pasta in salted boiling water for about 10 minutes.

Spoon the sauce over personel servings of the pasta. Enjoy!

Chili's Chicken Enchilada Soup Recipe!

Chili's Chicken Enchilada Soup Recipe!

Today is your lucky day, my friend! You are about to learn to make Chili's paramount Chicken Enchilada Soup in your own home. I stumbled upon this recipe two days ago, made it last night, and the response I got totally inspired me to write this article!

This is The perfect soup. It's perfectly balanced in every way a soup can be balanced. Not too mild, not too spicy. Not too creamy, not too watery. Not too chunky, not too plain.

Chicken Salad

The finishing touches of shredded mixed cheese (monterey jack and cheddar), pico de gallo, and crunchy tortilla strips make it not only balanced, but fun to eat.

I've been in love with this soup forever. I was as a matter of fact stoked to come across the recipe. I served mine to my wife, our twin 12-year-old daughters, a friend/coworker, and two neighbors (yes, the recipe makes A Lot!) Everyone's eyes rolled back, closed, and were accompanied by hearty utterances of "Mmmmm..."

Oh great, now I'm going to have to make it again and again! ;)

These are the ingredients I used:
1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/4 cup chicken base 3 cups diced yellow onions 2 teaspoons ground cumin 2 teaspoons chili powder 2 teaspoons granulated garlic 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper 2 cups Masa Harina (Mexican flour) 4 quarts water (divided into 1 and 3) 2 cups crushed tomatoes 1/2 pound processed American cheese, cubed 3 pounds cooked chicken, pieced pico de gallo, mixed cheese shreds, and crunchy tortilla strips, to taste

All of these ingredients are fairly base and ready in any grocery store. If your store has a "Hispanic Foods" aisle, you will find Masa Harina there. Fresh pico is recommended over canned or jarred. Tortilla chips will work when home-fried strips are not practical.

To make your Chili's Chicken Enchilada Soup:
Combine oil, chicken base, onion, and spices in a large pot. Saute until onions are soft and clear, about 5 minutes. In a large mixing bowl, merge Masa Harina with 1 quart water. Stir until all lumps dissolve. Add to sauteed onions, bring to a boil. Once compound starts to bubble, continue cooking for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. Add remaining 3 quarts of water and crushed tomatoes. Let compound return to a boil, stirring occasionally. Add American cheese and chicken. Sacrifice heat and simmer to desired consistency. Serve in large bowls. Top with mixed cheese shreds, pico, and tortilla strips. Enjoy!

good Salads

good Salads

Most citizen have a favorite salad. This can be a staple for anyone on a whole foods diet. Salads are full of fresh vegetables, maybe fruits, nuts and seeds, maybe low fat cheeses, and even lean pieces of meat. But anyone can get burned out from salad after a while. If you are tired of the same lettuce, tomato, and dressing salad it may be time to learn a few new ideas.

Variety can be the key to any successful diet. One of the first places to add new flavors to your salads is in the dressing. A whole foods diet is one that avoids synthetic chemicals, foods high in sugars, and limits animal products. Most store bought dressings are a terrible choice for anyone finding for a more natural lifestyle. Learning to make your own is easy. Dressings are nothing more than a aggregate of acid and fat that has been whisked together with seasonings.

Summer Salad Recipes

The most favorite fat choice right now is extra virgin olive oil. It has a great flavor, is one of the healthiest options available, and is easy to find. You can find simply pressed olive oils that have flavors imbued into them for new flavors. Or you can try other oils such as grape seed or almond oil. Look for oils that are cold pressed, extra virgin, and are relatively low in saturated fats. For a special Asian salad dressing you can even try sesame seed oil. This is not the most salutary choice and has a very strong flavor so it should be used sparingly.

The acid can also come from many sources. A primary Italian dressing is commonly white wine vinegar and olive oil. Other options comprise balsamic vinegar, sherry vinegar, lemon juice, lime juice, and even other citrus like orange juice. Avoid anyone with added sugars and chemicals. Many vinegars have sugar added to them to make them taste sweet.

The next part to reconsider is your fat to acid proportion. Many restaurants use 3 or 4 parts oil to 1 part acid. This is not the healthiest choice. commonly a ratio of 2 parts oil to 1 part acid is tangy but not too strong and has fewer calories. Some dressings may even taste best at a 1 to 1 ratio.

Learning how to make your own dressings can be a great way to add collection to your whole foods diet without drastically increasing your budget. Picking the right oils and acids is just one part of making your salads unique but it is an foremost step.

The Many Ways to Cook Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast

The Many Ways to Cook Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast

Boneless skinless chicken breast is the most favorite cut of poultry in the United States and with good reason: they are low in fat, quick and easy to get ready and highly versatile. This remarkable cut of poultry can be grilled, sauteed, broiled, poached, fried and baked. There is a downside however to this cut of meat: they are rather low in fat. You may be asking: "What is wrong with that? That makes them wholesome right?" Yes, they are a healthier way to eat, but because they are low in fat, they are also low in moisture and that makes them very susceptible to over cooking. Nothing is less tasty than a dry and overcooked piece of meat.

There are two ways to make determined your chicken is not overcooked. The first way, and the most spoton in my opinion, is to use an instant read thermometer. I own a handy petite electronic thermometer with a voice alert feature. It is highly spoton and has never let me down. The other recipe for checking doneness is by pricking the meat with a fork. If the juices run clear, then it is done. I think the first selection is much safer, but you can be the judge.

How to Cook Potatoes in the Microwave

How to Cook Potatoes in the Microwave

Here is a quick episode on how you can cook potatoes in the microwave. This is great for the busy mom who needs to get dinner ready quick. It is also great for those hot summer months when you don't want to turn on your oven or stove.

I use Tupperware's Rock N Serve medium or large deep holder depending on how many potatoes I am using. Try to find a microwave safe holder that is deep if you don't have the Rock N Serve containers.

Summer Salad Recipes

Peel and cut your potatoes into quarters.

Place in your microwave safe container. You may need to add water. If you are using the Rock N Serve holder you don't need to add any water.

Microwave on high for one itsybitsy per potato. If you have 15 potatoes you would cook for 15 minutes. Stir every five minutes to avoid hot spots. This is for average size potatoes.

You can then use the cooked potatoes in your recipes. Here are a integrate of examples.

For mashed potatoes:

Heat butter and milk in a small microwaveable container. Pour into the holder your warm vegetables are in. Add seasonings to taste and serve.

For home fries:

Cut potatoes in bite size pieces rather than in quarters before cooking in the microwave. Saute chopped onions, green peppers, and paprika in a large frying pan. Add cooked potatoes. Raise the heat and fry to taste.

For potato salad:

Keep the potatoes in the holder after cooking and place in a cool sink or dish pan in ice water. This will help to cool the cooked potatoes quickly. Make your popular potato salad composition and add to the
potatoes once they are cooled. For example, I add Miracle Whip, chopped olives, and chopped boiled eggs because that is how my family likes their potato salad.

As you can probably see by now, you can use your own recipes once the potatoes are cooked. Cooking them in the microwave is just a faster and cooler way to cook the potatoes.

Homemade Baked Beans method

Homemade Baked Beans method

If you're finding for a good "homemade baked beans recipe" recipe - this is the place! everyone loves some good baked beans, but most recipes call for them to be in a crockpot. Mine doesn't, instead I use can beans and cook them on the stove top. It's true, you could just buy a fancy can of Bush's baked beans, but it's just not the same as production your own homemade baked beans and letting them simmer of the stove as the flavors meld together! These are equally as good in the summer with a Bbq as they are in the winter on a cold blistery day!

3 cans great northern or navy beans, or 1 - 48oz jar or Randall's mixed beans (drained) 1 small onion (diced) 2 cloves garlic (diced) 1 cup barbeque sauce 1/2 cup ketchup 1 Tablespoon mustard 1/4 cup brown sugar 3-4 strips of chopped cooked bacon (if you like)

Summer Salad Recipes

Drain each can of beans and pour into a sauce pan. Add all other ingredients and cook on medium high heat until it boils, then cover and sacrifice to low heat and simmer for one hour. If you're in a real hurry, you can cook on high for 10 minutes and serve (it just won't taste as good!).

In the winter time you can cook this on the stove and let it simmer while production the main dish, but in the summer I like to just put the pot on the grill and let the beans simmer while I grill my meat. By the time the meat is done, the beans are ordinarily done shortly after. There are all kinds of beans you can experiment with on this recipe as well, I ordinarily end up using what I have on hand at the time. So I may use Pinto beans, Chili Beans, Mexican Beans - and even though you're production "homemade beans" it doesn't mean that you can't apply any leftovers that you may have around. For instance, if I grill out and have left over burgers and beans, the next day I may chop up the leftover cooked burgers and thrown them in the beans and simmer for 20-30 minutes and eat! I've used thrown in leftover taco meat, sloppy joe, and even chicken. Technically that makes the "homemade baked beans" more like a chili - but it's ok to change it up a bit! an additional one thing that's fun with this recipe is to add some cubed cheese of any kind just minutes before it's done. That melted cheese can make it a big hit with everyone in the house!
